I was standing in my kitchen the other night making dinner for one, thinking about how much it costs just to exist as a single woman in my 40s.
The rent. The groceries. The car. The bills. The things that break when you least expect them to.
And every single dollar comes from me.
I’m 46, I’ve never been married, and I’ve spent my entire adult life paying for everything on my own.
And while I’m proud of that, I’m also tired sometimes.
I don’t think people realize how hard it can be to build a life on one income. Especially when you’re getting older and thinking about your future.
I love my independence, but that doesn’t mean I don’t wish I had someone to share the weight with sometimes.
So to every single woman over 40 living alone, paying her own bills, and trying to make it all work, I’m proud of you. ❤️
And if you’re feeling the weight of doing life alone, come find your people inside the @singlesisterscircle 👉 a community for single women over 40 who want friendship, support, and a place where they feel understood.
❤️ 🔗 in b i o to join us. You don’t have to figure out everything alone.

When you intentionally practice pausing after someone asks you a question or a favor, you interrupt that habit.
It’s in the slowing down and checking in with yourself that you get to answer honestly.
Which means sometimes saying no! Or simply, “Hey, let me check my schedule first.”
This is one of the topics we’re diving into inside She Sets Boundaries 💛

Comment "HEAL" and i will share you pdf to heal your anxiety.
1️⃣ Be a calm anchor, not a fixer
Your calm presence matters more than advice.
Speak slowly. Stay steady.
A regulated nervous system helps the other nervous system settle.
2️⃣ Don’t argue with their fear — validate safety
Avoid: “Nothing is wrong” or “Relax.”
Say instead: “I’m here with you. This will pass. You’re not alone.”
Reassurance without logic works better in panic.
3️⃣ Gently guide attention to the body or surroundings
Invite grounding, don’t force it:
– Feel your feet on the floor
– Name what you can see around you
– Slow the exhale
This helps the body exit survival mode.
4️⃣ Let the wave rise and fall naturally
Don’t rush them out of it.
Panic peaks and settles on its own when it’s not fought.
Your job is to stay — not to stop it.

You’ve operated like this for years and you’re unsure of how to break the cycle of #highfunctioninganxiety, #overwhelm and overfunctioning. For so many anxious #highachievers and millennial women, the pressure to always be productive can make it difficult to slow down, switch off and actually rest.
And it feels too scary to admit certain things about what it’s really like underneath the productivity, #perfectionism and mental load.
If you’re feeling brave, share what would you add to this list? Share this with an anxious girlie that can relate to this.

For the high performing woman or high achiever that is used to being the go-to or taking on more than they can handle, this can feel so impossible and frankly down right scary. 🤍
Up to this point in life, you’ve achieved so much success and you’ve figured out how to make it all work. Others see you as confident, successful, capable but you’ve started realizing that operating at this level isn’t sustainable anymore.
Your priorities are starting to shift. You recognize how working this hard and pushing through for this long is wreaking havoc on your #mentalhealth, physical health, relationships with family and friends, joy, enjoying life and so much more.
For many high achievers, this cycle of work stress, hustle culture and #highfunctioninganxiety can make slowing down or boundary setting feel incredibly difficult.
One of the things that you want (and need) to learn is that you can say it’s too much. Or that you can’t take on that additional project right now. And this doesn’t mean you’re a failure.
Both things can be true. You can be capable, high performing AND still have limits. ✨
The truth is that you are so valued and capable. It’s not about proving that anymore.
And, I’ve seen this over and over again in my clients and they believe that they just need to have better time management, work harder or be more “efficient” but what they really need is to just honest about how much they are carrying and what the costs them.
But it really is a game changer.
Do you see this overworking or over functioning pattern in yourself as a #highachievers ? 💭
If you’re new here, I’m Nadia! I’m a recovering anxious high achiever and licensed therapist of 15 years.
If you are a millennial and realize that how you’re overworking and overfunctioning is unhealthy for you and love all things mental health, #selfdevelopment and rebelling against toxic corporate culture, this space is for you! 🤍

Negative thoughts don’t just stay in your head 🧠
They can quietly shape your whole life
You overthink the conversation for hours
You worry about what people think
You doubt yourself before you even try
You say no to things you actually want to do
You procrastinate because you’re scared of getting it wrong
You spend so much energy trying to feel certain, safe or “good enough” that you have very little left for actually living 🌱
And the hardest part?
After doing this for long enough, it can start to feel normal
But a thought isn’t a fact
And you don’t have to believe every thought your mind throws at you
Changing the way you think can change the way you feel, the way you act and ultimately the way you experience your life ✨

Sometimes we're so busy getting to the next milestone that we forget to ask whether we still actually want it.
The promotion.
The bigger business.
The impressive title.
The income goal.
You can get everything you thought would make you feel successful and still find yourself thinking:
Oh. I thought this would feel different.
That doesn't mean you're ungrateful. And it doesn't mean you need to burn your whole life down. 😂
But maybe it's time to stop asking “What should I achieve next?”
And start asking:
“What do I actually want now?”
Because being successful at something you don't really want isn't the goal.
Building a version of success that actually feels like yours is.

You can be incredibly self-aware and still be stuck as f*ck. 😂
You know you people-please.
You know you overthink.
You know you’re scared of judgement.
You might even know exactly where it all came from.
And you’ve probably journalled about it.
Talked about it.
Maybe therapied it.
Saved the Instagram posts about it. 😂
But knowing why you do something isn’t the same as changing it.
The bit I’m interested in is what your brain STILL believes will happen if you behave differently - and what you’re making that mean about you.
Because that’s the stuff we can actually work with.
And ultimately, I don’t want you to become an expert in your own blocks.
I want you to stop letting them dictate what you do with your life.

I used to be afraid of heights.
So I went skydiving.
Not once. A lot.
There’s a longer story here about exposure, fear, and what happens when you stop organizing your life around avoiding discomfort. But that’s a story for another day.
I remember being so proud of myself after this jump. It might have been my favorite one.
I never actually mastered flying head-down (I’m head-down and assisted here), and I’m okay with that.
Maybe that’s part of the lesson too: you can work really hard to overcome something and still not become perfect at it. You can just become less afraid.

We don’t experience life as it is, we experience the perspective of life we choose to focus on.
If you’re new here, hi, I’m Angelina. 12 years ago, I was completely lost, depressed, and unfulfilled.
Deep down, I always felt like I was meant for more, but my self-doubt was so much louder. So I stayed stuck in a life that didn’t feel like mine for years, until I rebuilt my self-worth.
For the first time, I finally believed in myself enough to pursue my purpose, take risks, invest $10,000 I didn’t have into a coaching certification, and quit my 9–5 one year later to build my business full-time.
I’m the happiest and most fulfilled I’ve ever been because I wake up to a life I used to only dream about.
Now, it’s my mission to help women build unshakable self-worth so they don’t spend years believing they aren’t worthy of the life they’re meant to live.
If you know you’re meant for more, you’re in the right place. ❤️

One year ago, I took the biggest risk of my life… I quit my 9–5 to pursue my business full-time.
Because for YEARS, I felt stuck in a life that didn’t feel like mine.
I knew I was meant for more, but I didn’t believe in myself enough to take the leap.
I was scared I’d fail. Scared I’d make the wrong choice. Scared I’d leave my comfort zone and regret it.
Until eventually, the fear of staying the same became bigger than the fear of changing my life.
So I took the chance and became someone who trusted herself enough to try.
I quit the job that was draining the life out of me.
I built a business around work I actually love.
I created the freedom to work from anywhere.
I moved out of my hometown for the first time.
And I finally wake up excited about my life instead of wishing I was somewhere else.
Everything changed when I started believing in myself enough to take the risks that could bring me closer to the life I wanted.
This is your reminder that sometimes the biggest thing standing between you and the life you want is simply believing that you’re capable of creating it. 🤍

Lately I’ve been noticing a very specific kind of anxiety that has come up more as I’ve gotten older.
It’s not the same anxiety I had in my 20s or 30s.
I’ve done a lot of healing around relationships, friendships, and even health anxiety. But this one thought still shows up sometimes… especially late at night.
The quiet fear of how fast life feels like it’s moving.
Suddenly you’re more aware of time.
Of aging.
Of your own mortality.
And sometimes that awareness can make your mind spiral into questions like:
❓Am I running out of time?
❓Will I get to do everything I want to do in this life?
❓What am I waiting for?
Because the truth is… many of us spend years waiting.
Waiting for the right partner.
Waiting until we have more money.
Waiting until life feels more “put together.”
But if anxiety about time has taught me anything, it’s this:
Life isn’t something we start living once everything is perfect.
Life is happening right now.
And sometimes the most grounding thing we can do for an anxious mind is gently bring ourselves back to this moment and ask:
What would it look like to live a little more intentionally today?
Even in small ways.
Even with the life we already have. 💛

“Just listen to yourself” is incomplete advice, and it’s why so many people end up second-guessing a decision they were sure about an hour ago.
There isn’t one voice in there. There’s the anxious one, the angry one, the one that wants everyone to like you…and when they get loud enough, you forget the wise one is still available.
The exercise I use in session: write down what each voice is saying. Then ask what the wise one would say. Usually it’s quieter, slower, and already knows.

Do networking events or big groups make you anxious?
If so, it’s because:
You don’t get to talk to people all that much.
You get in your head and you overanalyze social interactions.
To fix this issue, imagine warming up before a run.
You stretch your quads, move your hips and jog in place.
By doing so, you prepare your body and you prevent any injuries.
The same ideas apply if you want to become more socially confident.
Don’t try to go from zero to a hundred.
Instead, do something easy so you can get yourself unstuck.
By setting the bar lower, you won’t feel as pressured.
As a result, you stop overthinking and you don’t freeze up.
And each time you take a small action, doing it again feels a lot easier.
As a result, you’ll actually talk to people instead of just thinking about it.
Do you always run out of things to talk about?

If you struggle to participate in large groups, it’s not because you’re awkward.
It’s because:
You haven’t done it as much.
Imagine visiting a place for the first time.
Because you’ve never been there before:
- You’ll feel uncertain
- You might even get lost
- The journey takes longer
But after you’ve made the trip a few times, the path becomes more predictable.
And if you want to speak up confidently during high-stakes situations, the same ideas apply.
Don’t just go into important meetings and networking events blindly.
Instead, gradually expose yourself to things that scare you.
For example:
- Talk to people you see regularly
- Share your ideas during meetup events
- Practice your stories with close friends
These small reps add up over time.
So when you have to speak up under pressure, you’ll feel more confident.
